The Governor .

Charlie served his apprenticeship at Leviticus in Peterborough in about 2000.

After moving to London he then worked at Evolution in Camden before helping to open up Urban Ink in 2005.

Renowned for his portraits, realistic work and amazing black and shade, (much of it inspired by Paul Booth), Charlie has built up a customer base country wide.
If we ever allow him to have a day off, he also produces some fantastic airbrush work.

Spike started as the piercer at Leviticus in Peterborough in 1998 and in 2000 started tattooing.

After travelling the world in 2003-2004, Spike opened his own shop, the highly successful
'Human Canvas', in which he worked until Urban Ink made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Influenced by artists such as
Sean "Woody" Wood, Paul Booth, Joe Harrison and Rob Admiral.  Spike is an incredible artist who can turn his hand to absolutely anything and produce consistant top quality work.

With a fifteen year background in graphic design, Andy started his apprenticeship in Cornwall in 2000.

In 2003 he moved back to his homeland of Essex and spent the next three years working in a studio in Basildon.

After spending the next year working freelance, we grabbed him at
Urban Ink and has been here since. A brilliant all round artist Andy produces some lovely clean pieces.

Zoe came to see us at Urban Ink shortly after we opened, a brilliant artist wanting an apprenticeship.

Three years later, Zoe is truly a gifted all rounder.

Trained by Charlie, Zoe constantly applied herself and has become one of the most talented artists around.

I began tattooing by accident when my friend got an apprenticeship in Silverneedles on Southend’s sea front.

I worked the desk and cleared up after the artists and was the basic dog’s body. I fell in love with the passion and the art of the tattoo world.

My humble beginnings started by learning from the most passionate man I have ever met, Tom Ptolemy who I owe so much. Along side him I also watched Wendy Parker and Matt Butler as well as Sung Son from LA.

I moved to a custom tattoo shop in
Westcliffe with Albert Thomas who helped me find direction with most art forms and to find my own style with both painting and tattooing.

Up until recently I did a guest spot at
Life Family Tattoo with the majestic and forever hard working Dan Sims, where I learnt that tattooing is a privilege to be earned.  Dan’s knowledge of the technical aspect is unforgiving! To all these people I give thanks for giving me the opportunity to do what I love.

After completing a four year apprenticeship with his father back in 1999.

J has worked in various destinations in Europe such as Cyprus and Portugal before being persuaded to join the urban ink team in Brentwood.

An exceptional all rounder who thrives at colour work and free hand design, J takes much of his inspiration from artists such as Guy Atchison, Aaron Cain, Robert Hernandez, Filip Leu, Paul Booth, Woody and the list goes on.

J believes that every tattoo should be unique and is always ready to take on custom work. We are over the moon that J is with us here at Urban Ink and enjoy seeing him produce his outstanding work on a daily basis.
